Check Out: The Great Zamperini

Recently I saw an interview that Pastor Greg Laurie did with a man named Louie Zamperini.  It was truly an inspiring story that I highly recommend everyone watching.  Louie is 94 years old and his life story is absolutely remarkable and touching.  Especially when you personally hear him tell it. God has led this man from being a young boy always running from the law to an olympian runner at the 1936 olympics in Germany, to a soldier in WWII, to a man stranded in the ocean on a dinky life raft for 47 days, to a POW in a Japanese concentration camp, to an alcoholic with post traumatic war syndrome, to a broken man withe a broken marriage, and then into a man with a life surrendered whole heartedly to the Lord, and now has been a speaker preaching the gospel wherever he goes.  I loved being able to see, as Louie told his story, how God was in his life from the beginning and everything that happened to him had a purpose that God used for good.  These kind of stories are extremely encouraging to me. We live in a time where I’ve noticed that we can easily be confused as to what a hero is. The people we call heroes now days are really nothing of the sort but this guy seems genuine.  I love hearing testimonies of faith that encourage me in wanting to know the Lord even more.  I hope you get the time to watch the video.  You can also listen to the two radio segment versions at  http://www.harvest.org/includes/mp3/player.php?media_type=radio&id=3288&mid=3288  and http://www.harvest.org/includes/mp3/player.php?media_type=radio&id=3289&mid=3289  Enjoy!
